The "Arab Scout Movement in Israel" is an independent and apolitical youth movement. Active in most localities where Arab residents live (Arab and mixed localities). Beginning in 1999, this is the first youth movement in the Arab society in the country.
Youth Movement
The movement is a member of the Council of Youth Movements in the country It is a movement for youth of both genders, regardless of religion, socio-economic status, skin color, community or locality. The movement, all its Boy & Girl Scouts the instructors, the CEO and the management team, are members of the Israel Boy &girl Scouts Federation. The Arab Scout Movement has contacts with Scout organizations and movements in Israel and around the world, and takes part in local as well as international events and camps.
Scouting as a Way of Life
The movement's vision calls for the application of the principles of liberty, justice, peace and equality. among the youth and sets a goal to educate a humanist with inner integrity by internalizing and assimilating the values arising from the dimensions of the Scout and the Scout promise. A key basis in movement education is the cultivation of loyalty to the democratic values that are the foundation of the State of Israel, without identification or belonging to a political party.
The activity of the movement is based on the Baden-Paul Scouting method. It emphasizes, among other things, activities in nature, hard work and training for working life. The trainees share an active social life in their communities and adhere to the values of the Scouts, including helping others, tolerance and forbearance, and a relationship of truth and respect between each other. The movement prepares its graduates for an active and influential life as residents of localities, members of society and citizens of the country.
The officials in the movement are veteran educators of the Scout movement, and the youth training and leadership rests on the shoulders of the young counselors and coordinators, in the spirit of the movement's worldview - youth and youth counselor.
A leading framework in non-formal education
The "Arab Scout Movement" is considered the largest educational framework in non-formal education in Arab society in Israel. For many boys and girls, this is the only post-school educational-social framework. Many parents allow out-of-home activities and camps with accommodation for their children solely as part of the movement's activities.
Ongoing empowerment
The movement has various educational initiatives in a variety of fields (such as entrepreneurship, natural elements, photography, development of thinking, etc.) In addition to Scouting activities and participation in national programs of the Council of Youth Movements and other relevant bodies, the organization uses structured and strategic ways to empower youth and prepare them as active and successful citizens. Unique and innovative programs with Universities and frameworks rich in science and technology, such as the "Smart Scouts" program starting with youth as young as fourth grade, as well as special and exclusive Scout courses for advanced young instructors such as the Eagle Course and the Tiger Course'e.
Teens with disabilities
The "Arab Scout Movement" is proud to be an educational-social framework that enables activities for boys and girls with disabilities and special needs defined according to the Ministry of Education, as having special needs with a variety of dominant disabilities, such as: partial or complete ioss of hearing, visually impaired, learning disabilities, mobility disabilities... and more. The integration of people with special needs with other members in the tribes has become the only opportunity for the integration of people with special needs in their community. Some of them have progressed to the level of instructors and are instructors of ordinary teenagers and teens with special needs alike.
The connection with the community
The movement educates for volunteering which is implemented in localities where the tribes or branches are located. Projects and programs with the various communities are run with the participation of the trainees and instructors (such as: youth and senior citizens, distribution of food and medicine to the needy, fun days for mothers, and cleaning of roads and cemeteries, and more.
Coexistence and acceptance of the other
The movement participates in coexistence programs between Arab campers/counselors and Jews. It holds processions in Jewish localities on holidays and public events. The movement participates in international programs and projects to encourages and supports activities between the tribes from different communities and religions. Members of the movement's management are also members of the management of the International Orthodox Scouts' Union (Desmos).
